Some people have so many goals they don’t know which one to aim for first.
Some people can’t think of a single goal worth aiming for.
And in the middle of these two extremes, there are the people who have a select number of goals and are taking action every day to get one step closer to achieving them.
Whichever type of person you are, I urge you to consider the following…
The true motivating force for achieving your goal(s) is not the goal itself,
but what you will do with the outcome.
For example, if your goal is to reduce your working week to 3 days, then your motivating factor is not the 3 days you will work – it is what you will do with your 4 days off. Will you spend that time with your family? Will you play your favourite sport? Will you visit your favourite places? Will you read your favourite books?
Put this idea into practise by writing your goals backwards:
Using the example above:
If you can really visualise your outcome, your motivation levels will soar. Picture yourself on a day out with your family, having fun and making memories. Where will you go? What will you do? How will you feel? How will it make your spouse / children / parents / siblings feel?
To add to your motivation, find yourself an accountability partner who will hold you accountable to achieving your desired outcome. This could be in the form of a coach, a friend or a family member. Someone who will check in on your progress, will not allow you to make excuses and will remind you of the reasons you chose that outcome in the first place.
